Customized 12kV & 24kV Switchgear Enclosures for VD4 and VS1 vacuum circuit breakers

We recently completed four customized medium-voltage switchgear enclosure designs for our customers. These cabinets are specially designed for VD4 and VS1 Vacuum Circuit Breakers, ensuring perfect compatibility with different breaker structures.

The customized models include:

24kV VS1 switchgear enclosure

These medium voltage switchgear cabinets provide reliable mechanical support and safe installation space for circuit breakers used in power distribution systems, substations, and industrial electrical networks.

Each enclosure is manufactured according to the specific breaker interface and grounding design, ensuring safe and stable operation.

Internal Structure of the Switchgear Cabinet

The internal structure of the cabinet is designed for modular installation and easy maintenance. The switchgear typically includes several functional compartments:

Busbar compartment

Circuit breaker compartment

Cable compartment

Low-voltage control compartment

This compartmentalized design improves operational safety, insulation performance, and equipment accessibility during installation and maintenance.

VD4 Switchgear – Copper Busbar Grounding

The VD4 switchgear cabinet adopts copper busbar grounding.

Dedicated copper grounding rails are installed on both sides of the breaker compartment. When the breaker is inserted, it connects with these copper rails to establish a stable grounding path.

Advantages include:

Lower grounding resistance

More stable electrical connection

Higher reliability for critical power distribution systems

Because of this difference, VD4 switchgear enclosures must be designed specifically for VD4 breaker structures.

VS1 Switchgear – Bottom Friction Grounding

The VS1 switchgear cabinet adopts bottom friction grounding.

When the circuit breaker is pushed into the operating position, the grounding contact touches the grounding plate at the bottom of the cabinet, forming the grounding path through mechanical contact.

Characteristics:

Simple mechanical structure

Easy installation and maintenance

Widely used in many Chinese standard switchgear systems

This grounding design is reliable and commonly used in VS1-type switchgear cabinets.

All of our switchgear enclosures are manufactured using 2 mm thick steel plates as a standard configuration.
